It's an earthquake on stage! What will happen to the house on our big shake table? By using clues from previous quakes, student volunteers retrofit and quake-test a model house. Exciting interactive demonstrations of earthquake engineering point out ways to design structures that can minimize damage from strong earthquakes. Earthquake preparedness is demonstrated and discussed. Programs for upper elementary and middle schools include measurement of earthquake waves as well as causes of earthquakes. Sessions are adapted to audience's grade level(s). For an additional $85, 25-minute sessions for grades K-1 may be added to programs at your school.

LHS programs are the types of programs advocated in the National Science Education Standards, the Curriculum Standards for School Mathematics, the Science Framework for California Public Schools, the Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools, and the Benchmarks for Science Literacy.
