An excellent choice while The Dinosaurs of Jurassic Park are visiting LHS. Dinosaurs are everywhere--from singing dinos on TV to fierce monsters in the movies. But how canwe know what dinosaurs were really like? How do scientists piece together a puzzle millions of years old? Student volunteers sift through a simulated earth layer to find the jaw of a Tyrannosaurus Rex; make predictions aboout size or behavior based on evidence; reconstruct a life-size skeleton; and compare their length, height, and stride with those of their favorite dinosaur.Sessions are adapted to audience's grade level(s). For an additional $85, 25-minute sessions for grades K-1 may be added to programs at your school. Development of this program was made possible by the William Knox Holt Foundation.
LHS programs are the types of programs advocated in the National Science Education Standards, the Curriculum Standards for School Mathematics, the Science Framework for California Public Schools, the Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools, and the Benchmarks for Science Literacy.
