Golden Gate National Recreation Area is actively engaged in restoring indigenous habitats and increasing biodiversity within its boundaries. National Park Labs challenges students to explore complex land management issues as they work alongside park staff to propagate plants, remove exotic species, monitor, and plant seedlings into a restoration site. This semester-long curriculum provides an interdisciplinary model for students to practice applied biology, ecology, math, and environmental justice principles. Classroom presentations complement the field experiences. This program includes three on-site field trips plus classroom visits by park staff.
