For over a decade, BioSITE (Students Investigating Their Environment) has been providing students, of all ages, with watershed science field experiences and has inspired environmental awareness and stewardship!

Third, fourth, and fifth grade students become real field-study researchers during their BioSITE ACE (After Class Experience) visit to the Museum's 11-acre Guadalupe River Park site. To ensure individual attention, students work in groups of 5-6 lead by a trained high school student volunteer. Together, they monitor the river's watershed by regularly doing water quality testing and engaging in hands-on science activities introducing concepts such as habitats, food webs, animal and plant adaptations, and stewardship.

The Teacher Institute is the first step in securing your's and your students' place in the ACE program. After the Institute, teachers will be able to bring their students after school, to the ACE program at Children's Discovery Museum's Guadalupe River field study site. ACE includes three separate field study sessions, each about an hour and a half long. Each visit will also have a different focus of study in order to cover three important themes: water, plants and animals, and habitat and stewardship.
