Founded on January 15, 1917 and incorporated as a chapter of National Audubon in 1948, the Golden Gate Audubon Society is one of the oldest and most esteemed conservation organizations on the West Coast.
Recreation Services:
The Golden Gate Audubon Society leads over 75 free-to-the-public nature field trips every year, emphasizing birds, in the Bay Area and statewide. We also lead international field trips such as those to Africa and Central America.
We provide regular nature slide/film/video programs presenting entertaining and experienced naturalists and other speakers.
Education Services:
The Golden Gate Audubon Society provides environmental education programs to grade school and high school students in Alameda, Oakland and San Francisco. Over the last three years, we have helped over six thousand students develop an appreciation for nature.
Anyone can call our office for help from our birding experts in identifying birds and/or to answer other questions that they may have about birds and birding.
