The Crissy Field Center has taken a new approach to linking people and national parklands through multicultural environmental programming, Summer Camp, community outreach and education. Center staff have worked for more than three years with over 100 community representatives throughout the Bay Area to define the Center's mission and core programs.

The goal is to welcome diverse visitors to Crissy Field and create connections between all of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area sites and the many different communities of the Bay Area. Additionally, the Center hopes these new audiences will become stewards of the land.

Programs involve a cross-section of Bay Area communities and encourage different forms of expression. Topics include examining urban connections to natural environments, special excursions to the parklands of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, examining environmental justice issues, testing water quality in neighborhoods and expressing environmental experiences through the arts.
