The Science Buddies online mentoring program is designed to encourage interest in the sciences via greater participation in science fairs. Experienced high school students are matched with middle school students (same gender) and take the lead mentoring role on a science fair project. The middle school student does the actual work; the high school student offers guidance and feedback. Adult advisors, usually professional scientists, complete each team and back up high school mentors when they need it.
